Why students drop out of college?

Entering university or college is a dream of many people in Viet Nam. However, there are many students who had that dream decided quit it every year. And the rate of students drop out is quite high, about 15 percent.Why this happened ? There are some reasons that will be the answers for this question.

The first reason is being sick to study. After going to university, many methods of teaching have to change so fast, therefore some students are not adaptable with it. They feel very confused and difficult to understand what their teacher say. Not accquiring knowledge from lessons, they feel very bored even being sick to study. Inaddition, subjects are couted by credits and your level is decided by how many credits you can get in your semester. If you fail, you have to study again untill you can pass. Accordingly, the psychology of owing credits make student feel pressure in studying. They don’t want to go to college anymore. And the result of being sick to study is leaving out college after just 1 or 2 years later.

The second reason that is also a popular problem recently in student classes is having part- time job. Although government has some policies in finance to help students in university, but in the context of high inflation nowadays,it seems not enough.Some students are aware that paying money for living far from their home is not easy. They want to do something to earn money to support their life. And part-time job is the best choice in their opinions. Thus, they get a job in part of a day to earn money. Doing something in your free time to help your family’s finance is not wrong, but many students who have part-time job can’t stay away from it after that. Although this job is not assurance but with an attractive high salary - 3,000,000 VND, Duong Ngoc Ngan, a student in University of Technical Education of Ho Chi Minh City decided to drop out her university in order to spend time for working. Like Ngan, many students think that going to chool is not only bored but also it can’t make money, meanwhile, working is very interesting, especially, it can make money. With this thinking, they are not afraid of leaving their college before they can finish their studying.

The third reason is chosing wrong university and major. As we know, when we do something, the first thing necessary is inspiration. Many students registere in that major because of friends, or following trends sometimes. It is not begin from their real passion in heart. Sudying about lesson or many things that they don’t love or learning about unsuitable things make student bored of studying. Somes can not determine what is suitable major for them. After studying in college in a period of time, they realized that the major they chosen is wrong. This lead to stop their studying in order to test again to go another university. Morever, many parents want their children to be better than the others, they required their child to go to famous university and they also chose major by themselves without thinking of children. Therefore,some students have to study to please parents, not because of their inspiration. Due to it, fewer of them try hardly to finish their studying, meantimes many students make their own decision that is quit out of this university to go to another that is really their desire.

Studying in university is not easy. To avoid dropping out of college soon,students should remember that you study by yourself, not by your parents or your friends, therefore considering about your true desire, your abilities, what you can do and can not in order to choose a suitable major for you. Morever, if you finish your studying in university, you can get a good job in the future. Therefore you should not because of money now so that stop studying.Lastly, thinking positive will help you overcome some hard situations such as failing the examinations. Don’t be afraid of failure, try your best and you can do it.
